Baqaei Condemns Economic Pressure on Iran as Crime Against Humanity

Tehran: Foreign Ministry spokesperson Esmaeil Baqaei has condemned the application of economic pressure on Iran, labeling it a crime against humanity. In a recent message, Baqaei emphasized the severe impact such measures have on the Iranian populace. According to Islamic Republic News Agency, Baqaei took to his X account to criticize Nancy Pelosi's call for the US administration to "cripple" Iran's economy to ensure that even ordinary Iranians in rural areas "feel the pain." He argued that the deliberate infliction of pain and suffering on civilians for political gain fits the textbook definition of terrorism. Baqaei accused those advocating for such policies of possessing an evil and arrogant mindset, asserting that they feel entitled to impose suffering on civilians in another country. He further contended that, from a legal perspective, this serves as evidence of a deliberate and systematic US policy aimed at causing pain and cruelty to populations it disfavors. The spokesperson concluded by stressing that such actions amount to a "crime against humanity," highlighting the severity of the situation and calling for international attention and intervention.
