Tehran: Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesperson Esmaeil Baqaei has strongly criticized the United States, describing its economic measures against Iran as an attack on the sovereignty of nations globally and a violation of the right to self-determination.
According to Islamic Republic News Agency, Baqaei expressed his views, suggesting that the US's actions are a form of economic warfare that extends beyond Iran, impacting the foundational principles of international law. He argued that the US demands compliance from global financial institutions and governments, threatening consequences for those who defy Washington's directives.
Baqaei emphasized that the US's approach undermines the core tenets of the UN Charter, particularly the respect for sovereign equality among states. He asserted that no honorable government that holds its sovereignty and national interests in high regard would accept the normalization of such behavior, which he characterized as systemic bullying and lawlessness.
