New delhi: Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi emphasized the growing influence of BRICS, noting that all members support the enhancement of national currencies and the expansion of trade using these currencies.

According to Islamic Republic News Agency, Araghchi, during a discussion with Indian journalists in New Delhi on the sidelines of the BRICS summit, described India as a significant emerging nation currently at the helm of the group. He highlighted BRICS as an essential institution with a substantial impact on global matters, expressing confidence in India's ability to lead effectively.

Araghchi acknowledged that while differing opinions exist within BRICS on certain issues, there is a shared consensus on the need to bolster national currencies and facilitate trade among member states using them. He also mentioned that the potential creation of a common BRICS currency is still under consideration, with ongoing discussions on the matter.

President Masoud Pezeshkian arrived in New Delhi on Friday to participate in the 18th BRICS Summit, where he was welcomed by Indian Minister of State for Ports and Shipping Shantanu Thakur.
