London: Lindsay and Craig Foreman, a British couple detained in Iran on espionage charges since January, have been moved to two of the country's most notorious prisons near Tehran, according to their family. The couple's son has expressed grave concerns for their safety and urged Iranian authorities to grant British officials fresh access to his parents and allow them to communicate with their family.

According to France24.com, Lindsay and Craig Foreman, both 52, were apprehended in Kerman, central Iran, during a global motorbike tour. Since their detention over 200 days ago, their family has had limited information about their whereabouts. However, the UK Foreign Office recently informed them that Lindsay has been transferred to Qarchak women's prison near Tehran.

The couple's son, Bennett, has described the situation as "unbelievably tough" and expressed increased worry due to their new locations. Bennett, who has not been able to speak with his parents since their detention, emphasized his anxiety about their well-being and the potential for abuse and overcrowding at their new prisons. He also voiced concern about the impact of their enforced separation, which he described as a lifeline that has now been severed.

The Foremans were on a "once-in-a-lifetime" trip, having entered Iran from Armenia with plans to stay only four days before heading to Pakistan. Despite taking precautions, including securing tourist visas and hiring tour guides, they were detained under accusations of espionage. Iran alleged that the couple entered the country "posing as tourists" to gather information and claimed connections to foreign intelligence services.

Bennett dismissed the espionage charges as "crazy," stating that his parents are neither spies nor political figures, but simply travelers. He also criticized the UK government's response, suggesting that officials have been merely "going through the motions" in addressing the situation. Despite the family's efforts to reach out to Prime Minister Keir Starmer and Foreign Secretary David Lammy, their appeals have gone unanswered.

A spokeswoman for the Foreign Office expressed "deep concern" over Iran's allegations and confirmed ongoing consular assistance to the couple while remaining in contact with their family. However, Bennett expressed dissatisfaction with the level of support, arguing that the family does not feel adequately acknowledged or supported by the UK government.
