Accra:Iranian Navy personnel have identified an oil tanker on fire within a restricted zone of the eastern Strait of Hormuz.

According to Islamic Republic News Agency, the incident occurred on Thursday when monitoring teams from the Iranian Army Navy spotted the tanker, which had turned off its tracking systems. The vessel was attempting to navigate through a prohibited area in the Sea of Oman.

The Iranian Army Navy has stated that the eastern Strait of Hormuz is under their complete control and surveillance.
