Munich: German media report that a car has plowed into a crowd of people in Munich, injuring at least 20 individuals. The incident took place on Thursday near Munich's central train station, prompting a swift response from police.

According to Islamic Republic News Agency, the driver involved in the accident is an asylum seeker previously known to the police for drug and theft offenses. Deputy police chief Christian Huber identified the suspect as a 24-year-old Afghan asylum seeker. The suspect was apprehended after officers fired a shot at the vehicle to stop it. Police confirmed on X that the driver had been secured and no longer posed a threat to the public.

The incident occurred just a day before the Munich Security Conference, which is set to start approximately 1.5 kilometers away from the site. U.S. Vice President JD Vance and Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy are expected to arrive in the city later today.
