China and Iran Strengthen Ties Ahead of Araqchi’s Beijing Visit

Beijing: China has expressed enthusiasm for strengthening its relationship with Iran as Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araqchi prepares for an official visit to Beijing. Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesperson Guo Jiakun emphasized the commitment to fostering interactions and developing relations with Iran across various fields.

According to Islamic Republic News Agency, Guo highlighted that China and Iran have been maintaining exchanges and contacts at all levels. As Araqchi's visit approaches, there is anticipation about the discussions that may take place, although Guo refrained from providing specific details regarding the agenda.

Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesperson Esmaeil Baqaei confirmed Araqchi's impending visit to China, scheduled for Tuesday. Baqaei noted that Iran's continuous consultations with countries involved in the 2015 nuclear deal are vital, with China being a key player in these discussions. Tehran remains in dialogue with European signatories as well, to update them on the latest developments in Iran-U.S. indirect talks.

Araqchi, during his recent visit to Moscow, underscored the importance of consulting closely with allies such as Russia and China on nuclear issues. Tehran and Beijing have notably deepened their strategic partnership through joint infrastructure projects and bolstered trade relations. Their 25-year partnership agreement includes comprehensive economic, political, and security cooperation across multiple sectors.
