New york: Colombian President Gustavo Petro has called for the formation of a global army to free Palestine, asserting the need for such a force to confront Israel and the United States. Speaking at a pro-Palestine and anti-genocide protest in New York’s Times Square, Petro emphasized the necessity of armed struggle against what he described as the Israeli regime’s actions against Palestinians.
According to Islamic Republic News Agency, Petro addressed the crowd, advocating for action in the streets, through words, and with weapons. He proposed the creation of an army larger than those of Israel or the USA. Colombia has already presented a resolution at the United Nations to establish a world army, with its first mission focused on liberating Gaza. Petro reiterated this call during his speech to the UN General Assembly, urging global cooperation to free Palestine and highlighting the need for an international military response against genocide.
In response to Petro’s speech, the US State Department announced its decision to revoke the Colombian president’s visa, citing his “reckless and incendiary actions.” The department accused Petro of urging US soldiers to disobey orders and incite violence during the rally. Petro, who has been a vocal critic of Israel’s actions in Gaza, shared videos of his speech on social media, reinforcing his stance on liberating Palestine and warning of the consequences if Gaza falls.
