Moscow: Iran’s First Vice-President Mohammad Reza Aref emphasized the significant capacities of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) and highlighted that cooperation within the bloc promotes peace and friendship. Aref made these remarks while speaking with reporters at Moscow’s Vnukovo International Airport, where he arrived to attend the 24th Meeting of the SCO Council of Heads of Government.
According to Islamic Republic News Agency, Aref stated that the members of the SCO share extensive cultural, historical, and civilizational commonalities, making it a key organization for expanding cooperation in the region. He emphasized that cooperation within the SCO contributes to promoting peace, stability, and friendship.
Aref further noted that since Iran became an official member state in 2023, it has strengthened its cooperation within the SCO. He expressed hope that this process will lead to favorable outcomes, benefiting Iran’s interests, the interests of regional countries, and enhancing peace, stability, and friendship among nations worldwide.
The vice-president traveled to Moscow at the official invitation of Russian Prime Minister Mikhail Mishustin, and the two are scheduled to meet later in the day. During his visit, Aref is also expected to meet with officials from other participating countries.
