D-8 and ACD Leaders Arrive in Mashad for ECO Foreign Ministers Meeting.

Mashad: Secretary-General of the D-8 Organization for Economic Cooperation (D-8) Isiaka Abdulqadir and Secretary-General of the Asian Cooperation Dialogue (ACD) Pornchai Danvivathana have arrived in Mashad, northeastern Iran, to participate in the 28th meeting of the Foreign Ministers of the Economic Cooperation Organization (ECO) member countries. An official from Iran's Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Khorasan Razavi province confirmed their arrival. According to Islamic Republic News Agency, Ahmad Masoumifar, speaking to IRNA on Monday, stated that the meeting of the Foreign Ministers of the ECO had commenced, concentrating on topics such as transit, transportation, and cultural and social activities. Masoumifar highlighted the significance of the presence of the heads of ECO, D-8, and ACD, along with a representative of the Conference on Interaction and Confidence Building Measures in Asia (CICA), in fostering cooperation between ECO and other regional treaties. Additionally, he mentioned that deputy for eign ministers of Turkey and Pakistan are set to join the event. The 28th meeting of the Foreign Ministers of the ECO member countries is scheduled for December 2-3, with approximately 20 delegations expected to attend. ECO is an Asian political and economic intergovernmental organization established in 1985 in Tehran by the leaders of Iran, Pakistan, and Turkiye. The organization serves as a platform to discuss strategies for enhancing development and promoting trade and investment opportunities.
