Dayrestan: The second "Agricultural Nowruz" festival will take place on Thursday and Friday, September 18 and 19, with the aim of introducing the culture, rituals, and potential of Dayrestan village on Qeshm Island to a broader audience. The festival seeks to promote cultural tourism and sustainable agriculture in the region. According to Islamic Republic News Agency, the village headman of Dayrestan, Mahmoud Abuli Dayrestani, detailed the festival's various programs, including a children's carnival, sevandbafi, mogh pazidan (climbing a palm tree), the rezif or azva ceremony, dabheya playing by children, zagar, liva, oud playing, jaffini playing, a goat and asurik tree show, the iron cow ceremony, and halva making. Dayrestani emphasized that the festival aims to foster public participation, revive indigenous knowledge, enhance tourism, and brand Qeshm Island by celebrating its ancient rituals. The festival, under the slogan "The Green Heart of the Blue Island," symbolizes the integration of agriculture and the sea, which are vital to the village's livelihood. The event will begin on Thursday at 4:00 PM with a date sweet competition and a performance of the local Dar Top game by the women of the community at the Dehil Ecolodge in Diristan village. Festivities will continue on Friday with a children's carnival in the Alishahi palm grove, featuring performances of local oud and jaffa music, a goat and asurik tree show, an iron cow ceremony, and halva making. The festival is organized with the support of the Qeshm Free Zone Organization, the Islamic Council of the village, and the local community. Abuli Dayrestani noted that the inclusion of Dayrestan Agricultural Nowruz in the official tourism calendar of the Islamic Republic of Iran highlights the significance of this ritual and supports the development of rural cultural and economic tourism. Dayrestan Village, known for its lush greenery and abundant palm groves, as well as a variety of garden products like mango, sepistan, lemon, banana, fig, and olive, will welcome visitors to this vibrant summer festival. The Agricultural Nowruz offers a unique platform to revive the indigenous heritage and traditional rituals of Diristan Village, showcasing the enduring relationship between humans and nature.
