Tehran: Kazem Gharibabadi, Deputy Foreign Minister for International Legal Affairs and Iran's representative to BRICS, held separate meetings on the sidelines of the BRICS National Coordinators' meeting with his counterparts from Indonesia, South Africa, Brazil, India, and Egypt. The talks focused on bilateral cooperation and matters of mutual interest.

According to Islamic Republic News Agency, during the meetings, Gharibabadi outlined Iran's position regarding military aggression against the country, describing such acts as contrary to international law and the United Nations Charter. He called on BRICS members to pay attention to illegal actions against member states, with the aim of countering unilateralism, ending military aggression, and holding aggressors accountable.

Gharibabadi also highlighted BRICS' capacities, particularly in the economic and trade sectors, and called for expanded cooperation with member states. He stressed the need to activate these capabilities through collective action and play a more active role in relevant international forums.

Indonesia's representative noted that areas for bilateral cooperation existed within the BRICS framework and said his country was ready to implement them. He added that recent events had negatively affected energy prices and other commodities, impacting many countries, and expressed hope that diplomacy would yield results.

Brazil's representative said his country maintains close and constructive engagement with Iran in international organizations and voiced solidarity with the Iranian government and people. He expressed hope that the current situation would be resolved through diplomatic means.

South Africa's representative reaffirmed Pretoria's commitment to multilateralism and the principles of international law, the UN Charter, and the Non-Aligned Movement.

India's representative expressed hope that the recent ceasefire between Iran and the United States would lead to lasting peace, noting that the conflict had negatively affected countries like India in areas such as energy prices, fertilizers, and freight.

Egypt's representative, referring to longstanding historical ties between Cairo and Tehran, expressed hope that the conflicts would end and said Egypt would seek to play a constructive role in that regard.
