Dutch Police Investigate Rotterdam Synagogue Fire

Rotterdam: Dutch police are currently investigating a fire that occurred at a synagogue in Rotterdam at approximately 40 a.m. local time. "The fire burned for a short time before going out on its own," police reported on social media, noting that there were no injuries.

According to Deutsche Welle, this incident is the latest suspected antisemitic attack since the joint US-Israeli war on Iran began. Recently, a synagogue in Liege, Belgium, was hit by an explosion in what local authorities are calling an antisemitic attack. A video claiming jihadist responsibility for the attack is currently under analysis. The Liege explosion, which caused material damage but no injuries, was strongly condemned by Belgian politicians and European Union officials.

In the United States, a Lebanon-born US citizen drove his truck into a synagogue and its preschool in the Detroit area. The individual was subsequently shot dead. In light of these incidents, Jewish and Israeli institutions worldwide have heightened their security measures due to fears of attacks related to the Iran conflict. The Israeli National Security Council has advised Israeli citizens to avoid events and sites identified as Jewish or Israeli and to keep Jewish symbols discreet.
