Minister of Foreign Affairs Badr Abdelatty stressed the need to end the Gaza war in a phone call with EU High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy Josep Borrell. The call focussed on the latest developments in the Gaza Strip and Egypt's ongoing diplomatic efforts to de-escalate the conflict. Egypt's top diplomat reiterated the need to stop the ongoing war in Gaza during his call with Borrell, describing it as the main reason for the widening conflict in the Middle East. He also urged influential countries to intervene and pressure Israel to stop its policy of brinkmanship, assassinations, and violations of other countries' sovereignty. "There is no alternative to the two-state solution," Abdelatty told Borrell. He called on the EU and all the peace process partners to intensify efforts to stop Israel's aggression against the Palestinians and work seriously for the establishment and recognition of the Palestinian state.
