Egyptian Minister of Electricity and Renewable Energy Mahmoud Essmat met Sunday with Chairman of the Greek Copelouzos Group Dimitrios Copelouzos to review the latest developments of the electricity interconnection project between Egypt and Greece leading to Europe. The meeting also mulled the future of renewable energies, maximising returns, and benefiting from natural resources in Egypt within the state's strategy and the action plan of the Ministry of Electricity and Renewable Energy regarding reliance on clean energy and reducing the use of fossil fuels. Essmat stressed the electricity interconnection project's great importance for achieving sustainable development and and turning Egypt into a regional hub for energy exchange. We will spare no effort to complete the necessary procedures for the project as an important interconnection gateway for between Egypt and Europe. He referred to the state's strategy aimed at increasing the contribution of renewable energy to the electricity energy mix, and the i nterest of the electricity and renewable energy sector in diversifying production resources and benefiting from natural wealth.
