Mazandaran: Head of the Iranian Crisis Management Organization Hossein Sajedi announced that the fire in Elit forest, located in the northern province of Mazandaran, is now under control. Sajedi, addressing reporters on Sunday, stated that the strategies implemented based on expert assessments have been successful in controlling and extinguishing the fire.
According to Islamic Republic News Agency, Governor of Mazandaran Mahdi Younesi mentioned that the operation to manage the fire in the Elit forests is still ongoing. He highlighted that due to the challenging topography, climate changes, and drought conditions, the number of teams battling the fire was increased to 40. Younesi further noted that 520 personnel, supported by eight helicopters and two Ilyushin aircraft, are actively involved in the firefighting efforts.
The Elit forests in Marzanabad have experienced fires twice this month. The first outbreak occurred on November 1, 2025, and was successfully extinguished after several days of effort by emergency forces. The second fire began on November 15. Thanks to the deployment of three helicopters and the diligent efforts of emergency teams and local residents, a significant portion of the fire has been contained, though a small area remains affected.
