According to Islamic Republic News Agency, the EU's move is aimed at restricting agricultural products that contain pesticides, which the bloc believes provides an unfair advantage to U.S. products over those produced by European farmers. The European Commission is set to discuss further import restrictions in its upcoming session, with potential measures targeting soybeans grown with pesticides that are banned for use by EU farmers.

On Thursday, President Trump criticized the EU and other countries for banning U.S. products, such as shellfish, and hinted at imposing tariffs on nations that continue these bans. A spokesperson for the European Commission stated that while there is no information about Trump's specific tariff plans regarding European products, the EU is ready to respond assertively if necessary.
