Tehran: Iranian Deputy Foreign Minister for Political Affairs Majid Takht-e-Ravanchi announced that negotiations on a final agreement between Iran and the United States will commence immediately following the signing of a memorandum of understanding (MoU) in Switzerland.

According to Islamic Republic News Agency, Takht-e-Ravanchi made this statement while speaking on the sidelines of a meeting with ambassadors, charg©s d'affaires, and heads of foreign and international missions in Tehran. Responding to questions regarding the implementation details of reciprocal steps outlined in the Pakistan-mediated MoU, he confirmed that negotiations would begin once the MoU signing is completed.

Takht-e-Ravanchi noted that details such as the duration of the Iranian delegation's stay in Geneva and specific topics to be addressed have not been discussed yet. However, both Iranian and American sides have confirmed that talks on a final agreement will start post-signing of the MoU.

The Iranian diplomat mentioned that the upcoming meeting in Switzerland will include representatives from both sides, with US Vice President James David Vance and Iranian Parliament Speaker Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf expected to attend.

Addressing concerns about potential ceasefire violations in Lebanon, Takht-e-Ravanchi stated that the memorandum includes a provision for ending war and military operations across all fronts. He emphasized that, should the Israeli regime violate the ceasefire, the MoU's stipulated mechanism would be activated. He also mentioned that the United States has committed to ensuring an end to hostilities on all fronts, including Lebanon.

The deputy foreign minister highlighted that discussions on Iran's nuclear commitments are currently general. Iran has not yet engaged in detailed negotiations on these issues, although nuclear matters such as enrichment, stockpiles of nuclear material, and requirements are clear in principle. Detailed discussions will follow the MoU signing and formal recognition.

It is notable that Pakistan has played a significant role as a mediator in recent US-Iran diplomacy. The country has facilitated a temporary ceasefire in April and engaged in months of shuttle diplomacy, culminating in an agreement on the 'Islamabad Memorandum,' which has set the stage for broader settlement negotiations between Tehran and Washington.
