Tehran: The chairperson of the National Security and Foreign Policy Commission of the Iranian Parliament has criticized 'the failed US president' for demonstrating a lack of commitment to the principles of negotiation and ceasefire. Ebrahim Azizi expressed his views on X, stating that the US attack on Iran amid negotiations reveals an absence of dedication to peaceful resolutions.

According to Islamic Republic News Agency, Azizi made these remarks following an announcement by US Central Command (CENTCOM) on X. CENTCOM reported that its forces had conducted strikes on Iran's missile and drone storage facilities and coastal radar sites on June 26. This action was in response to an alleged attack on a commercial ship transiting the Strait of Hormuz a day earlier.

US President Donald Trump had also asserted on his Truth Social platform that Iran launched 'four one-way attack drones' at ships in the Strait of Hormuz. He accused Iran of violating the existing ceasefire between the two sides.

This development unfolds as Tehran and Washington engage in negotiations to finalize a memorandum of understanding on a ceasefire, which paused the conflict initiated by the US and Israel against Iran in late February. The ongoing discussions also aim to reach an agreement on Iran's nuclear program and the lifting of sanctions on the country.
