Tehran: The Foundation of Dialogue and Solidarity of the United Nations (FODASUN) has urged the United Nations and other international organizations to play an active role in fostering peace in crisis regions and defending nations' rights. FODASUN, a non-governmental organization based in Iran, is committed to promoting regional and international peace, fostering tolerance, encouraging dialogue, and advocating for the protection of human rights. According to Islamic Republic News Agency, FODASUN organized the sixth annual international conference on the future of peace and human rights in West Asia, featuring distinguished speakers from domestic and international backgrounds, in response to critical regional circumstances. The conference emphasized the urgent need for peace, justice, and peaceful coexistence, highlighting that regional and global crises compel nations to reconsider their policies and prioritize fundamental human principles and international law. The conference underscored that international laws are the foundation of global order and guarantee peace and security among nations. Adherence to international laws, such as the United Nations Charter and the Universal Declaration of Human Rights, fosters peaceful coexistence among countries. It stressed that any military or political action undermining national sovereignty is a clear violation of international law. Furthermore, the principle of national sovereignty and non-interference in the internal affairs of states is a fundamental tenet of international law. Disregarding this principle damages international relations and exacerbates crises. Therefore, all parties must respect the sovereignty and independence of every nation. The international community and global institutions bear the responsibility of supporting national sovereignty and working toward the peaceful resolution of conflicts. The United Nations and other international organizations must play an active role in fostering peace in crisis regions and defending the rights of nations. Ge nuine peace can only be achieved when justice and human rights are universally upheld. The conference also addressed the impact of economic sanctions unilaterally imposed by certain countries against Iran. These sanctions have severely affected Iran's economy and the populace's access to essential goods, resulting in considerable hardship among ordinary citizens. The lifting of these sanctions is imperative to mitigate their detrimental effects. Addressing current crises necessitates international cooperation and a collective effort among countries, which may include diplomatic negotiations, mediation, or preventive measures. Without collective will and collaboration, achieving peace in regions such as Gaza and Lebanon will be exceedingly challenging. Establishing an immediate ceasefire in Gaza was highlighted as essential. Recent military conflicts have claimed thousands of civilian lives and devastated infrastructure. A ceasefire and the conclusion of hostilities are initial steps toward restoring peace to the Palestinian people, reflecting a commitment to humanitarian principles and international law. The global community must support the rights of the Palestinian people and promote justice. Lastly, the conference noted that Lebanon has been affected by regional violence and military threats for many years. Ceasing threats and attacks against Lebanon, while respecting its sovereignty and independence, would enhance peace and security in the Middle East.
