Tehran: Foreign Minister Abbas Araqchi has departed from Tehran for Tianjin, China, to attend the meeting of the Foreign Ministers Council of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (S.C.O.).
According to Islamic Republic News Agency, the Iranian foreign minister will address the gathering that is scheduled for July 15. Araqchi is also expected to hold meetings with his Chinese counterpart and several other foreign ministers on the sidelines of the event.
Iran’s Foreign Ministry spokesperson, Esmaeil Baqaei, had previously announced the top diplomat’s trip to China on Sunday. The spokesperson informed reporters that the meeting of the Foreign Ministers Council is responsible for coordinating the upcoming heads of state summit of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization.
