Foreign Minister Calls Nowruz Symbol of Cultural Bonds Among Nations

Tehran: Foreign Minister Abbas Araqchi says the Persian New Year, Nowruz, is a symbol of cultural bonds and fraternity among countries celebrating the ancient ritual. Araqchi was speaking on Friday evening at the opening ceremony of the International Nowruz Festival, which was held at the iconic Azadi Square in Iran's capital, Tehran. Ministers of culture and cultural heritage along with foreign ambassadors and groups of people were in attendance as well.

According to Islamic Republic News Agency, Araqchi emphasized the need for dialogue, understanding, and cooperation in today's challenging world. He noted that Nowruz, with its message of friendship and interaction, serves as a reminder of common human values that transcend geographical borders and political differences. The celebration, he said, has been an inspiration for hope, renewal, and consolidation across a vast geography from South Asia to the Balkans and from Central Asia to the Caucuses.

The foreign minister highlighted Nowruz as more than just a calendar event in Iran, describing it as an opportunity to reflect on the past, engage with the present, and aspire for a better future. He pointed out how the celebration brings people together, rejuvenates traditions, and reinforces values like compassion, empathy, and generosity.

Araqchi also underscored the importance of dialogue and cultural cooperation among the countries that celebrate Nowruz, suggesting that this shared heritage can foster regional and international collaboration in various spheres, including cultural, economic, and social domains. He expressed his hope that this year's Nowruz would bring peace, happiness, and prosperity to all and guide people toward a world filled with hope, unity, and progress.

In concluding his remarks, Araqchi extended his gratitude to his colleagues, including Dr. Salehi, Minister of Culture, and Dr. Sahehi Amiri, Minister of Cultural Heritage, Handicrafts and Tourism, as well as Dr. Ayoubi, Secretary of the National Committee for Celebrating Nowruz, for organizing the festival.
