Tehran: Foreign Ministry spokesperson Esmaeil Baqaei has dismissed US allegations of Iran's involvement in a recent attack from Iraqi soil that struck Saudi Arabia's East-West oil pipeline, saying that Washington is making false claims to deepen disputes between regional countries and complicate the situation. 'There is absolutely no truth to the claim made by US officials regarding Iran's involvement in these developments, and it is categorically denied,' Baqaei said on Monday during his weekly press conference in Tehran.
According to Islamic Republic News Agency, Baqaei added that the US continues to make false allegations to create divisions between countries in West Asia and complicate the situation amid tensions. 'Americans are constantly producing false news reports and making false claims at no cost to themselves; there is no doubt about that. In these circumstances, the fact that the United States keeps fabricating lies to deepen divisions among regional countries is one of the consequences of the issues facing our region, which the countries themselves must resolve among them. Otherwise, those who have no goodwill toward our region will continue to resort to such lies to further complicate the situation.'
In response to a question regarding Yemen's Ansarullah movement and Iran's involvement, Baqaei asserted that Iran has no role in Yemen-related decisions, emphasizing that Ansarullah operates independently based on its own interests. He highlighted that some parties are exploiting regional developments to deepen divisions among Muslim countries and stressed the need for maritime security and freedom of navigation for all.
Baqaei also addressed concerns regarding the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA), criticizing the head of the IAEA for providing incomplete or distorted reports that enable misuse. He condemned the misuse of IAEA reports to support resolutions against Iran and called for the IAEA chief to denounce US and Israeli attacks on Iran's nuclear facilities during the wars of aggression in 2025 and 2026.
Regarding claims of nuclear activity at Kolang Gaz La Mountain, Baqaei dismissed them as baseless media hype. He assured that Iran has complied with its safeguards obligations and that the site does not qualify as a nuclear facility. Baqaei accused the United States of using these claims as part of a psychological campaign against Iran, reiterating that despite longstanding allegations, the IAEA has never found Iran in non-compliance.
