Riyadh: The General Food Security Authority (GFSA) has completed the procedures for awarding the third batch of imported wheat for this year, amounting to 235,000 tons, for local market supply from the European Union, North and South America, Australia, and the Black Sea. GFSA Governor Ahmed Al-Faris said in a statement today that the awarding of this batch is part of the efforts to maintain the strategic stock of wheat at safe levels and meet the needs of milling companies. He added that the third batch will be supplied from September to October through four ships. Two ships will deliver 120,000 tons to Jeddah Islamic Port, and the other two will deliver 115,000 tons to Yanbu Commercial Port. A total of 19 qualified international companies specialized in grain trade competed for this to supply the amount to be imported.
