Tehran: Iraqi Prime Minister Ali Faleh al-Zaidi met with Iranian Parliament Speaker Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf in Tehran on Thursday. The meeting took place at the Parliament complex and began with the Iraqi prime minister and the Iraqi parliament speaker paying homage at the memorial dedicated to the martyrs of the Second and Third Imposed Wars. They honored the memory of the martyred Revolution Leader Ayatollah Sayyid Ali Hosseini Khamenei, the martyrs of the 12-Day War, the Ramadan War, and the Resistance, including General Qassem Soleimani and Abu Mahdi al-Muhandis.

According to Islamic Republic News Agency, Prime Minister al-Zaidi's visit marks an official engagement aimed at regional de-escalation and enhancing bilateral cooperation. Iraqi government spokesperson Haider al-Aboudi stated that the discussions are focused on trade, transportation, and natural gas imports, reflecting key areas of mutual interest.

Beyond these diplomatic discussions, Araghchi confirmed that the Iran-Iraq security agreements are progressing satisfactorily, although he acknowledged ongoing issues in certain border regions that need further resolution. He also spoke about the upcoming Arbaeen pilgrimage, emphasizing that security and logistical arrangements between Tehran and Baghdad are effectively coordinated.

Araghchi indicated that Iran has been preparing with Iraq for several months, expressing optimism that this year's significant religious event will be executed successfully, unaffected by regional tensions.
