Tehran: Parliament Speaker Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf has reacted to US President Donald Trump's claims by asserting that commitments must be fulfilled without any excuses. Ghalibaf emphasized this message in an English post on his X account, asserting that commitments made must be commitments kept, adding that there should be no ifs, buts, or excuses. He stated, "For the close deal ahead, there is no other way. You reap what you sow."
According to Islamic Republic News Agency, Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi announced earlier on Friday that significant progress has been made toward finalizing a memorandum of understanding (MoU) reached between Tehran and Washington in Islamabad. He stated that the agreement has 'never been closer' to completion. In a post on his official X account, Araghchi provided an update on the status of the negotiations, which have been underway for over six weeks. The top diplomat emphasized transparency and responsibility as the cornerstones of Iran's diplomatic approach.
Araghchi advised that pending the MoU's finalization, the media should refrain from speculation about its content, addressing premature reports and leaks circulating in various outlets. He assured that the Iranian public would eventually be fully briefed, stressing Iran's commitment to a responsible and transparent approach.
The proposed MoU is understood to be based on a two-stage framework, initially ending the war on all regional fronts, followed by nuclear negotiations. Iranian officials have stressed that no final decision has been made, with the text still under review by the authorities.
