Accra:Parliament Speaker Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf has ridiculed US Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent for his repeated predictions of Iran's economic collapse, suggesting that Bessent could earn a Nobel Prize in Physics for proving that the concept of time may be irrelevant.
According to Islamic Republic News Agency, Ghalibaf highlighted several predictions that failed to materialize. These included assertions that Iran would have 'nothing in 2 weeks,' that its oil wells would explode 'in 3 days,' and warnings of an 'Economic D-Day.'
In a sarcastic post on X, Ghalibaf commented, "Time's relative; turns out it could be irrelevant. Nobel in Practical Physics for Treasury?" This statement was aimed at the US Treasury chief following the missed deadlines for Iran's economic downturn.
The US has recently increased its military activity in West Asia, accompanied by increasingly hostile rhetoric against Iran. Tehran has consistently warned that it will target US bases and naval assets in the region if there is any renewed aggression against Iranian territory.
