The spokesperson for the Egyptian Cabinet, Mohamed al-Homosany announced on Friday 9/8/2024 that seven billion LE will be provided to quickly address the shortage of medicines and medical supplies required by hospitals and pharmacies. He added that Prime Minister Mostafa Madbouly held a meeting on Thursday evening, during which he reviewed efforts to provide the required medical supplies and deal with the problem of shortages in the drug market. The meeting was attended by the Ministers of Health and Finance, the Head of The Egyptian Authority for Unified Procurement, Medical Supply, and Technology Management, and the Head of the Egyptian Drug Authority. Homosany explained that the meeting highlighted the package of measures taken to ensure the availability of various types of medicines and pharmaceutical products in the Egyptian market. He noted the measures the Finance Ministry has followed during the fiscal year 2024-2025 to ensure the availability of financial liquidity for the competent authorities t o provide the necessary raw materials and medicines, alongside expanding the production and pumping of important pharmaceutical products.
