Group of Friends Condemn Israel’s Actions Against Iran’s Nuclear Facilities

New york: Representatives from member states of the Group of Friends in Defense of the Charter of the United Nations have expressed solidarity with the Iranian nation and condemned the attacks on Iran’s nuclear facilities. In a meeting with this group in New York, Deputy Foreign Minister for Legal and International Affairs of Iran Kazem Gharibabadi appreciated the member states for their continued support for Iran, particularly during the 12-day imposed war.

According to Islamic Republic News Agency, Gharibabadi dismissed claims regarding ‘legitimate defense’ and ‘preemptive attack’ by the United States and the Israeli regime, stating that Iran’s nuclear program has been under the supervision of the International Atomic Energy Agency (I.A.E.A.). He highlighted the aggression against Iran as a crime and a historical test for the U.N. Security Council. He described the Israeli regime as the main source of insecurity and instability in the region over the past eight decades.

During another meeting, Gharibabadi engaged in talks with the President of the International Committee of the Red Cross (I.C.R.C.), Mirjana Spoljaric Egger, at the Permanent Mission of the Islamic Republic of Iran to the United Nations in New York. Gharibabadi emphasized that the Israeli aggression against Iran violates international laws and has been condemned by numerous countries. However, he noted that the United Nations Security Council (U.N.S.C.) has not reacted to this crime due to the obstruction by some of its permanent members.

Spoljaric Egger expressed solidarity with the families of the Iranian victims and called for the expansion of interaction with the Islamic Republic. Gharibabadi traveled to New York for political consultations and participation in two high-level U.N.S.C. sessions.
