Hamas Official Accuses Tel Aviv of Blocking Peace Efforts, Urges US and Israel to Act

Tehran: The representative of Hamas in Iran, Khaled Qaddoumi, has stated that the Palestinian resistance movement has been prepared from the beginning to exchange prisoners and cease the conflict in Gaza. However, he claims that Israel’s ongoing military actions have hindered the achievement of peace.

According to Islamic Republic News Agency, Qaddoumi emphasized in an exclusive interview that the responsibility now lies with the United States and Israel. He pointed out that Hamas’s stance is driven by a commitment to end the violence and safeguard the residents of Gaza.

He referred to Hamas’s reaction to a proposal by US President Donald Trump aimed at ending the “war of massacre and genocide” in Gaza. Qaddoumi explained, “As you know, the Palestinian resistance movement Hamas, with the aim of stopping the war and the crimes that are still continuing against our people in Gaza, and for the withdrawal of occupation forces and the delivery of humanitarian aid to civilians, has conditionally approved the plan.”

Qaddoumi held both Washington and Tel Aviv accountable for the implementation of the agreement and for halting further crimes. He stated, “In other words, we accepted Mr. Trump’s proposal with both reason and goodwill.”

He further elaborated that Hamas is willing to enter negotiations to discuss the proposal’s specifics, which must favor the Palestinian people and bring an end to the violence inflicted by what he described as the Zionist regime.

Qaddoumi labeled the acceptance of the proposal as a “historic moment” and emphasized that the decision was made “in full coordination and consultation with its brothers in the Gaza resistance movements and in the spirit of national responsibility.”

He concluded by describing the current situation as “alarming,” noting that since the morning, the number of casualties has risen due to the continued air and ground assaults by the Zionist regime.
