Beirut: The political aide to Hezbollah Secretary General, Hajj Hussein Al-Khalil, has denounced external pressure on the Lebanese government to disarm the resistance, calling it a grave mistake that would serve the interests of the United States and the Israeli regime.
According to Islamic Republic News Agency, in an interview with Al-Nour radio station in Beirut, Lebanon, Al-Khalil stated that the foreign pressures regarding the exclusive control of weapons by the government are overwhelmingly imposed. He noted that the ministerial statement and the presidential oath contradict these external demands.
Al-Khalil highlighted that certain countries are leveraging and manipulating Lebanon with conditions related to livelihood, reconstruction, and even military funding. He stressed the need for Lebanon to be well-prepared for significant dangers ahead.
Referring to the Taif Agreement established in 1990, he pointed out that the agreement underscores the necessity of confronting the occupation and aggressions of the Zionist regime. However, Al-Khalil claimed that some entities only implement clauses favored by the United States while neglecting others.
He warned that the decision to disarm the resistance exposes Lebanon to global powers’ will and historical grudges. The senior Hezbollah official noted that the recent calm in Lebanon resulted from the resistance’s steadfastness in rejecting disarmament concessions, positioning it as a barrier against the objectives of the U.S. and Israeli regime.
Al-Khalil asserted the ongoing threat from Israel necessitates national mobilization for resistance and sovereignty, emphasizing Hezbollah’s presence in the government as vital and positive.
In his remarks, he described the recent Israeli attack on Doha as a consequence of submission and inaction by some Arab governments. He mentioned the prolonged suffering in Gaza met with Arab indifference, encouraging further aggression by the Zionists.
The report detailed an Israeli regime’s assassination attack against Hamas leaders in Doha, Qatar, on September 9, 2025. The attack occurred during a Hamas negotiating team’s discussions on a Gaza ceasefire proposal led by the United States.
Qatar’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs condemned the attack, labeling it a cowardly assault and a violation of international laws, posing a threat to the safety of Qataris and residents.
