Tehran: Mirjana Spoljaric Egger, the visiting head of the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC), met with Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi in Tehran on Wednesday. Egger and Araghchi discussed various humanitarian programs, focusing on enhancing cooperation between the ICRC and the Iranian Red Crescent Society (IRCS) in the field of aid.
According to Islamic Republic News Agency, Egger arrived in Iran at the head of a delegation on Tuesday via the Astara land border, where she was welcomed by local Iranian officials. Her two-day visit aims to underscore the role of the ICRC and its mission in line with international humanitarian law.
Egger expressed her organization's commitment to bolstering cooperation with Iran and highlighted the importance of global adherence to international humanitarian law. During her visit, she is set to engage with Iranian officials to discuss cooperation and assistance, particularly in relation to medical centers, hospitals, and facilities affected by the US-Israeli imposed war.
