Tehran: The International Handball Federation (IHF) has extended an invitation to Mitra Nouri, an Iranian woman, to serve as a match observer at the 29th IHF Men's World Handball Championship, marking a groundbreaking moment for both the event and Nouri herself. According to Islamic Republic News Agency, the IHF officially communicated this decision in a letter to the Iranian Handball Federation, highlighting Nouri's selection as a match observer for the championship scheduled to take place from January 14 to February 2, 2025, across Croatia, Denmark, and Norway. This appointment signifies a significant milestone for Iranian handball, as it is the first instance of an Iranian female observer participating in such a prestigious global handball event.
