Implementation of VAT law for food items abolished / Retirees’ year-end bonus to be paid quickly, on time

The Supreme Economic Coordination Council has repealed the implementation of the VAT law on food items in order to prevent food prices from rising and to lower the costs on low-income households.

At the meeting of the Supreme Economic Coordination Council, which was held on Thursday night with the heads of the three branches taking part, members reviewed and decided on several important economic issues.

According to one of the resolutions of this meeting, which was chaired by Ayatollah Dr Seyyed Ebrahim Raisi, the implementation of the VAT law on food items was abolished.

The Supreme Economic Coordination Council made the decision with the aim of preventing food item prices from rising and to lower the costs on low-income households.

At this meeting, which lasted three hours and thirty minutes, the government’s proposals in the field of fast and timely payment of year-end bonuses for retirees were approved and it was decided to pay the bonuses of retirees as soon as possible by allocating the necessary funds.
