This year's International Falcon Breeders Auction (IFBA) concluded yesterday, capping off a successful 20-day event that saw over SAR10 million in sales. Sold at the auction were 866 falcons, featuring participation from 56 leading falcon breeding farms across 19 countries. In its fourth year, the auction was held at the Saudi Falcons Club (SFC) headquarters in Malham. SFC official spokesperson Waleed Al Taweel said that the auction featured hundreds of falcons, including some presented on the auction floor over 11 nights. He added that the participating farms offered an impressive selection of elite and rare falcon breeds, including competition winners, in response to strong demand from falconers. Al Taweel also noted that the auction saw the sale of the most expensive falcon this year, a male Ultra White Gyrfalcon from the American Pacific Northwest Falcons farm, which sold for SAR400,000. The event served as a platform for selling the world's elite falcons, offering a fast-paced competitive bidding env ironment that brings together falconers and breeders from around the globe. According to the SFC, this year's auction witnessed an increase in the participation of local farms, which had the opportunity to learn from leading international farms and exchange expertise. It also served as an international platform for falconers and breeders to conduct trade transactions under protocols set by the club. The SFC stated that the auction has contributed to its vision of leadership in the development, innovation, breeding, and care of falcons, which helps preserve the rich historical heritage of falconry and ensures that this tradition will be passed on to future generations.
