International Recognition of WhartoCell: A Royan Institute Cell Therapy Achievement

Tehran: In the report, WhartoCell is introduced as an allogeneic, off-the-shelf cell-based therapeutic product derived from umbilical cord-derived mesenchymal stem cells (MSCs), developed with the aim of advancing innovative cell therapy approaches for the treatment of joint disorders and osteoarthritis.

According to Islamic Republic News Agency, MedPath, an international specialized platform focused on health information as well as the discovery and analysis of clinical-trial data, has highlighted the development pathway of WhartoCell in Iran and the role of Royan Institute in this scientific and technological achievement. The platform aggregates and structures clinical-trial information and health-related data from diverse scientific sources and international registries.

The development of WhartoCell exemplifies Royan Institute's approach to translating advances in cellular and molecular sciences into applicable technologies and innovative medical products. This translational pathway has its origins in basic research and has progressed through preclinical and clinical studies, process development and manufacturing, and the relevant regulatory pathways, bringing the product closer to therapeutic application.
