Tehran: Iran's Foreign Ministry spokesperson, Esmaeil Baqaei, emphasized the enduring significance of Russia's constructive influence on the Islamic Republic's nuclear discussions. Baqaei stated that Tehran acknowledges Russia's positive contributions and anticipates its continued involvement as necessary.
According to Islamic Republic News Agency, Baqaei highlighted the belief held by Iranian officials that Russia would maintain an essential role in Iran's nuclear matters. He further clarified that the ongoing Iran-U.S. negotiations are still in their preliminary phases, with no detailed discussions having commenced, making any precise predictions about the talks' outcomes premature.
Baqaei also addressed rumors about Saudi Arabia's involvement in mediating the indirect talks between Tehran and Washington. He dismissed these claims as unfounded media speculations, stressing that they do not reflect the current realities.
The indirect negotiations between Iran and the United States have been facilitated by Omani Foreign Minister Badr bin Hamad Al Busaidi. Two rounds of discussions have already taken place, with a third round scheduled to occur in Muscat, Oman.
