Islamabad: Iran’s Deputy Parliament Speaker Ali Nikzad emphasized the Islamic Republic’s desire for its neighbors and all regional countries to be strong and secure. In an interview with Pakistan’s Samaa TV, conducted on Wednesday, Nikzad articulated Iran’s position on regional peace and security. Leading a delegation, Nikzad arrived in Islamabad to participate in the Inter-Parliamentary Speakers’ Conference (ISC), a two-day event.
According to Islamic Republic News Agency, Nikzad stated, “The Islamic Republic of Iran believes that peace and security should prevail in all countries, particularly those in the region, and I state explicitly that we wish strength and empowerment for all regional nations.” He also expressed criticism towards the United States and Israel, accusing them of threatening peace in West Asia and hindering friendly relations among regional countries.
Nikzad underscored the importance of fostering good relations for progress and development, warning that insecurity in neighboring and regional countries could be harmful to the entire region. Furthermore, he highlighted Iran’s intent to expand political and economic relations with its neighbors, with a particular focus on Pakistan.
In his remarks, Nikzad revealed that both the Iranian administration and Parliament are committed to maintaining and enhancing trade ties with Pakistan. He noted that the current bilateral trade stands at $3 billion annually, with potential to increase to $10 billion through strategic planning.
