Tbilisi: Ambassador of the Islamic Republic of Iran to Georgia Mahmoud Adib has concluded his diplomatic mission with a meeting and discussion with Georgian President Mikheil Kavelashvili. During the Tuesday meeting, Ambassador Adib extended New Year greetings and expressed appreciation for President Kavelashvili's support in developing bilateral relations despite various pressures and limitations.

According to Islamic Republic News Agency, the diplomat highlighted strategic cooperation opportunities, including transit connections from the Persian Gulf to the Black Sea and Iran's capacity to supply energy to Georgia. Commending Georgia's policy regarding the Ukraine crisis, Adib emphasized the importance of peace and stability in the South Caucasus and reaffirmed Iran's commitment to mutual respect and the territorial integrity of nations.

He expressed hope that, given the deep cultural and religious ties between the two countries, the development of cooperation, including cultural and economic exchanges, would continue under the tenure of Iran's new ambassador, Ali Moujani. President Kavelashvili praised Ambassador Adib for his successful management of bilateral relations, describing Iran and Georgia as countries with rich cultural, historical, and civilizational heritage.

The president underscored the importance of transforming the Caucasus into a stable, mutually beneficial region and recognized Iran's role as a key regional power in promoting peace. Kavelashvili also expressed gratitude for Iran's support of Georgia's territorial integrity and called for continued friendly cooperation in cultural, tourism, economic, and people-to-people exchanges.
