Caspian Sea: Iran and the Republic of Azerbaijan have successfully concluded a series of combined rescue and relief exercises in the Caspian Sea, as announced by the spokesman of the Caspian Sea exercises, Rear Admiral Mohsen Razzaqi. The exercise, which operated under the slogan "Cooperation for Peace and Friendship," involved various naval units from both countries. These units included the Islamic Republic of Iran's naval forces, featuring the destroyer Deylaman, missile launchers Separ, Peykan, Joshan, the AB 212 AB helicopter, and the IRGC naval vessel "Shahid Basir." Participation also included vessels from Iran's law enforcement command coast guards, along with Azerbaijan's rescue and relief vessels G129 and A640. According to Islamic Republic News Agency, the exercises included operations like extinguishing fires, repairing damage to commercial vessels, transporting injured personnel to shore, conducting aerial photography exercises, and executing formation and tactical scenarios. The two-day event w as hosted by the Iranian Navy in Bandar Anzali, a port city in Iran's northern province of Gilan. The Public Relations Office of the Iranian Army issued a press release on Sunday afternoon, detailing the participation of vessels from the Republic of Azerbaijan Navy, which entered Iranian waters to take part in the exercises. The drill, named AZIREX2024, aimed to reinforce sustainable collective security in the region under the theme 'Cooperation for Peace and Friendship.' It also sought to enhance multilateral cooperation among the participating nations, demonstrating their commitment to jointly supporting peace, friendship, and maritime security.
