Iran and Lebanon Presidents Pledge to Enhance Bilateral Relations

Doha: Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian and Lebanese President Joseph Aoun have emphasized the importance of strengthening ties between their nations based on justice and mutual respect. The two leaders met on the sidelines of the emergency summit of Islamic and Arab countries, where President Pezeshkian highlighted Tehran’s commitment to enhancing cooperation with Lebanon and other regional states.

According to Islamic Republic News Agency, President Pezeshkian stated that Iran’s approach to fostering cohesion and collaboration with neighboring countries is deeply rooted in Islamic teachings. He underscored the principle of mutual respect, expressing hope that Iran and Lebanon can elevate their relations on foundations of justice and fairness. Pezeshkian also criticized the actions of the Israeli regime, condemning its disregard for international norms and the continued military support it receives from countries that claim to uphold human rights.

President Aoun, in turn, expressed Lebanon’s commitment to building friendly relations with Iran, echoing Pezeshkian’s sentiments on the importance of mutual respect and shared interests. He agreed with Pezeshkian’s views, emphasizing that while differences in perspectives among countries are natural, they can be overcome through understanding and sustained cooperation. Aoun also condemned Israeli aggression, highlighting the need to address obstacles to deepening bilateral ties between Lebanon and Iran.
