Tehran: Iran's Interior Minister Eskandar Momeni and Pakistan's Army Chief Field Marshal Asim Munir have reached an agreement to enhance coordination and cooperation for safeguarding regional security during discussions held in Rawalpindi.

According to Islamic Republic News Agency, a statement released by the Pakistan Army's media wing on Tuesday detailed that Momeni met with Munir at the General Headquarters (GHQ). During the meeting, both parties reviewed their bilateral cooperation and discussed issues of mutual interest, focusing on regional and bilateral security and effective border management.

The Pakistani military highlighted that the Iranian minister praised Pakistan's continuous efforts and diplomatic role in easing regional tensions, promoting de-escalation, and supporting peace initiatives. The meeting concluded with both sides reaffirming their commitment to closer coordination and enhanced cooperation mechanisms aimed at preserving regional security and promoting mutual prosperity, as stated in the release.
