Moscow: Iran and Russia are poised to sign a 'comprehensive strategic partnership' deal during a visit by Iran's President Masoud Pezeshian to Moscow, as announced by the Kremlin. The official signing is scheduled for Friday, marking a significant step in the bilateral relations between the two nations.
According to Islamic Republic News Agency, the Kremlin stated that President Vladimir Putin will engage in discussions with President Pezeshkian on January 17, emphasizing the importance of the official visit. The discussions will cover various aspects of bilateral cooperation, notably in trade, investment, transport, logistics, and humanitarian efforts. Additionally, both leaders will address pressing regional and international issues.
Initially, the agreement was set to be signed during the BRICS Summit in Kazan, Russia, in October 2024. However, the signing was postponed, with Iran's Ambassador to Moscow, Kazam Jalali, explaining that both nations preferred a bilateral meeting to ensure the significance of the agreement was not diminished by the multilateral nature of the BRICS Summit.
