Iran and Russia Sign Strategic Agreement to Bolster Economic Ties

Moscow: Iran's President Masoud Pezeshkian and Russian President Vladimir Putin have formalized a joint comprehensive strategic agreement during a ceremony held at the Kremlin Palace. This significant accord, which includes 47 clauses, was signed during President Pezeshkian's official visit to Moscow.

According to Islamic Republic News Agency, the agreement is anticipated to create new opportunities for cooperation, with a particular focus on enhancing economic relations between Tehran and Moscow. Both nations have expressed their commitment to expanding bilateral cooperation through this newly established framework.

The strategic agreement was prioritized due to the inadequacy of the previous accord in addressing the increasing scope of the bilateral relationship between Iran and Russia. The two countries, which have aligned views on various international and regional issues, including opposition to US hegemony, have developed a roadmap to guide their cooperation at multiple levels.

The document encompasses all facets of bilateral relations, including political cooperation, as outlined by diplomatic sources. At the conclusion of the meeting, the presidents are expected to address questions from reporters, further detailing the implications of this new agreement.
