Iran and Saudi Arabia Urge Closer Cooperation on Regional Stability

Jeddah: Iran and Saudi Arabia have emphasized the need for strengthened bilateral cooperation to advance regional stability. Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi of Iran and his Saudi counterpart, Faisal bin Farhan Al Saud, underscored this during a meeting on the sidelines of the extraordinary session of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) foreign ministers in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia.

According to Islamic Republic News Agency, the discussions between Araghchi and bin Farhan focused on the latest regional and international developments, with particular attention to the situation in Gaza and the ongoing Israeli actions against the Palestinian people. The ministers called for increased coordination among Islamic countries to halt the aggression, ensure the flow of humanitarian aid, and address the regime’s expansionist plans.

The meeting also highlighted the recent progress in Tehran-Riyadh bilateral relations. Both ministers expressed satisfaction with the positive trajectory of interactions and emphasized the importance of ongoing consultations to enhance cooperation across political, economic, security, and regional domains.

Additionally, the diplomats underscored the crucial role of Iran-Saudi cooperation in promoting regional stability and fostering an environment based on dialogue, mutual respect, and non-interference in the internal affairs of other nations.

Araghchi led a diplomatic delegation to Jeddah on Sunday for the OIC meeting. The primary objective of this session was to address the humanitarian crisis in Gaza, coordinate immediate relief efforts, and examine the legal and political implications of the Israeli regime’s plans for the permanent occupation of the besieged region.
