Tehran: Foreign ministers of Iran and Saudi Arabia have warned against the repercussions of any regional escalation amid the dispatch of US warships to the region.

According to Islamic Republic News Agency, in a telephone conversation on Wednesday, Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi and his Saudi counterpart, Faisal bin Farhan, reviewed issues discussed during a phone call the previous night between President Masoud Pezeshkian and Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman. They also exchanged views on the latest regional and international developments.

The two foreign ministers urged the need for combined efforts of all regional countries to preserve stability and security across the region. Meanwhile, US President Donald Trump has increased his rhetoric against Iran. In his latest post on social media, he insisted that Iran should come to the negotiating table for a deal, warning that the next strike would be "more severe" than last June's military aggression. Tehran has rejected talks under the threat of military action.

The US has dispatched the aircraft carrier USS Abraham Lincoln and its accompanying warships to the Middle East. Trump stated on Wednesday that another "armada" was on its way to the region.
