Tehran: Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi has declared that the United States' economic strategies against Iran are a recurring scenario that Tehran is well-equipped to confront.

According to TRTworld.com, Araghchi made these remarks during his visit to the mausoleum of former Iranian leader Ayatollah Khomeini in Tehran. During his speech, Araghchi highlighted that the economic measures described by US President Donald Trump as an economic warfare strategy were merely a repetition of past US policies targeting Iran.

Araghchi pointed out that the US has previously threatened Iran with military action, only to revert to its established tactics. He emphasized that this shift from aggressive threats back to older strategies reveals the US's inability to formulate new approaches against Iran. "They cannot think of any other solution in confronting the great Iranian people, so they repeatedly put forward the same old plans," Araghchi stated.

Araghchi further stressed the importance of mutual respect and justice in dialogues with Iran, suggesting that there is no viable path forward without acknowledging these principles. He insisted that the US must learn to engage with the Iranian people respectfully to find a dignified resolution.

This assertion follows President Trump's recent announcement of an intention to launch an unprecedented economic operation aimed at isolating Iran. Trump described his approach as "Economic Warfare and Isolation on an unprecedented scale."

The backdrop to these developments includes a memorandum of understanding signed between Iran and the US in June, facilitated by Pakistani and Qatari mediation, which aimed to end hostilities and foster negotiations towards a lasting agreement. However, progress has stalled due to disagreements over the memorandum's implementation and navigation arrangements in the strategically crucial Strait of Hormuz, a key corridor for global oil and gas exports.
