Tehran: Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei, Leader of the Islamic Revolution, emphasized that Iran will not seek permission to enrich uranium, urging U.S. officials to avoid making baseless claims. The Leader criticized the U.S. stance, stating that Iran does not await approval from any external entity for its enrichment activities.
According to Islamic Republic News Agency, Ayatollah Khamenei addressed these issues during a ceremony honoring Martyrs of Service, including the late President Ebrahim Raisi, who tragically died in a helicopter crash in East Azerbaijan Province on May 19, 2024. He highlighted that President Raisi had made it clear that Iran does not engage in direct negotiations with the U.S. Despite holding indirect talks, no tangible results were achieved, and the outcome of any future negotiations remains uncertain.
The Leader praised President Raisi as a humble and devout individual who did not consider himself above the people. He also acknowledged Raisi's relentless efforts and his straightforward manner of speaking. Ayatollah Khamenei noted that the Islamic Revolution continues to inspire youth across the nation and beyond, demonstrating its enduring influence and unstoppable nature.
He further commended Raisi's contributions to infrastructure projects, economic growth, and job creation, which significantly boosted Iran's economic progress from nearly zero to almost five percent during his administration. Ayatollah Khamenei also lauded President Raisi's symbolic gesture at the United Nations General Assembly, where he held the holy Quran and a portrait of Lieutenant General Qassem Soleimani, marking a proud moment for Iran.
The Leader contrasted Raisi's genuine leadership style with the perceived hypocrisy of some Western officials, who, while advocating for peace and human rights, ignore the atrocities in Gaza. Ayatollah Khamenei reiterated that Raisi's leadership was characterized by adherence to divine principles and resistance against tyranny, ensuring that Iran's position was not compromised by external pressures.
