Iran Becomes Runner-Up in 2025 World Karate Championships

Cairo: The Iranian national karate team ranked second in the 2025 World Karate Championships, held in Cairo, Egypt, by winning three medals in both men’s and women’s categories.

According to Islamic Republic News Agency, the 2025 World Karate Championships were held in the presence of the karate fighters from 87 countries. The Iranian team, which had secured 10 quota spots-five for women and five for men-concluded its campaign in this prestigious event with a historic gold medal won by Atousa Golshadnezhad. In addition to the gold, Saleh Abazari earned a silver medal, and Sara Bahmanyar claimed a bronze.

Egypt topped the medal tally with three gold and one bronze medal. Meanwhile, Iran shared the second-place position with Italy, Turkey, and Japan, each securing one gold, one silver, and one bronze medal.
