Tehran: Iran's Foreign Ministry spokesperson, Esmaeil Baqaei, has called for the international community to address the Israeli regime's actions against Palestinian children, emphasizing the need to end what he describes as a longstanding pattern of unpunished violence.
According to Islamic Republic News Agency, Baqaei expressed these views in a post on his X account, highlighting that Israeli military strikes had resulted in the deaths of over 180 Palestinian children in a single day in the Gaza Strip. He labeled this as the largest incident of infanticide in the region's history, spanning over seven decades. Baqaei argued that this act was part of a systematic policy aimed at the ethnic cleansing of Palestinians.
Baqaei criticized the ongoing violence, stating that the Israeli regime continues to commit crimes against humanity with the support or silence of the United States and some Western governments. He urged the global community to rise against what he termed as the most severe oppression in contemporary history, calling for accountability for Israel and its allies for their actions in the Gaza Strip and the West Bank.
The conflict, which saw a temporary ceasefire in January, resumed on March 18. Recent Israeli strikes have resulted in at least 23 deaths in the Gaza Strip, including children and their parents near Khan Younis. According to Gaza's Health Ministry, the ongoing war has claimed over 50,000 Palestinian lives and injured more than 113,000 individuals.
